Pilgrims will now be able to submit their passports by January 20

The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has extended the date for submission of passports for Sikh pilgrims visiting shrines in Pakistan on the occasion of Khalsa Panth Creation Day (Baisakhi). Sikh pilgrims will now be able to submit their passports by January 20, 2021. Earlier, the deadline for submission of passports was December 31, 2020. It may be recalled that every year in the month of April, a group of Sikh devotees is sent by the Shiromani Committee to celebrate Khalsa Creation Day at Gurdwara Sri Panja Sahib in Pakistan.
Disclosing this here today Advocate Harjinder Singh, Chief Secretary, Shiromani Akali Dal said that on the occasion of Khalsa Sajna Diwas (Baisakhi), passports from pilgrims going to Pakistan would now be received by the Shiromani Akali Dal by January 20, 2021. He said that Sikh pilgrims can get their passport certified by the halqa member Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee and submit it at the headquarters of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee at Amritsar. Along with the passport, pilgrims should send photocopies of Aadhaar card, voter card or ration card and three recent passport size photographs as proof of their identity. He appealed to the sangat to send copies of their passports and required documents within the stipulated time so that maximum number of visas could be issued.
