In wake of ensuing festivals of Dussehra and Diwali, the Deputy Commissioner cum Disrict Magistrate Ghanshyam Thori has asked all SDMs, Local bodies department and fire safety department to check the storage, sale and purchase of fireworks in the district in the larger public interest.
Divulging the details, the Deputy Commissioner said that days before, on, and after Diwali, there was likelihood of unrestricted storage, sale, purchase and use of all sort of fireworks, which have the potential to cause serious damage to life, limb and property and for which urgent steps to restrict and regulate the same were essential in public interest. He said that in the past, many incidents of fire and consequent loss of life and properties have taken place in many parts of the country. Therefore, all the concerned officials were asked to check the manufacturing, storage, sale and purchase of fireworks within their jurisdiction so that necessary steps could be taken well in-time. The deputy commissioner has asked the officials to submit their detailed report within ten days.
Keeping in view the safety and security of general public, no laxity in this task would be tolerated adding the deputy commissioner said that people can lodge complaint on control room number 0181-2224417 in case they have any information on storage, manufacturing, sale and purchase of fireworks in the district.
