To sensitize various departments towards safe sludge disposal, latest fecal sludge management technologies were demonstrated in a meeting held at district administrative complex.
Chairing the meeting, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Vishesh Sarangal said that the sludge management technologies entail collection, transportation and scientific disposal of the sludge from the pits, septic tanks, and other onsite sanitation systems (OSS). Fecal Sludge is a mixture of human excreta, water and solid wastes that are disposed of in pits, tanks and OSS.
Programmers of Wash institute Sushanka Welidandla and Koroshna C. Rao participated in the meeting and demonstrated latest fecal sludge management technologies to the participants. The expert teams visited the village Kadianwali of Jalandhar East development block to oversee the ongoing work of a sewage scheme.
Prominent amongst others present in the meeting included Supervising Engineer NP Singh, Executive Engineer cum District Sanitation Officer Vijay Kumar, Sub Divisional Engineer Gagandeep Walia, and BDPOs of the various blocks.
