In UT Ladakh, Khelo India Ice Hockey Tournament organised at Chiktan in Kàrgil district.Alongwith 11 teams from different villages of Chiktan, for the first time two Women Teams of Chiktan also participated in the Khelo India Games.
Shakar Chiktan SDM Kacho Asgar Ali khan inugurated the tournament. Chiktan Zonal Physical Education Officer Mr Ghulam Rasool also present.
While appreciating the efforts of ZEPO Chiktan and his team, Kacho Asgar Ali appreciated efforts by education department and for introducing the women to the popular Ice Hockey sport. He said it is a great achievement for Shakar Chiktan. He wished women players to raise to National and International Level in the sport.
Being a native of Shakar Chiktan, he recalled his memories that in good old days the blacksmiths used to make Ice Hockey Shoes locally such was the craze of Ice Hockey. He urged upon the Players to try hard to bring back the glory of Chiktan in Ice Hockey. ZEPO
Ghulam Rasool said that the motive of organizing such events by the UT Administration at Zonal Level is to popularize the Game in the whole UT Ladakh so that talents from far-flung areas should get a platform to prove themselves.
Its pertinent to mention here that the Deputy Commissioner Kargil Baseer Ul Haq Chowdhary has assured all his help for promoting the first Women Team of Kargil district.
