British MP Tanmanjeet Dhesi has asked British Prime Minister to take up issue of peaceful protests by farmers in Indian capital city of Delhi with his Indian counterpart .
During PMQs today Tanmanjeet Dhesi MP asked the Prime Minister the following question:“Many constituents, especially those emanating from the Punjab and other parts of India, and I were horrified to see footage of water cannon, tear gas and brute force being used against peacefully protesting farmers.
However, it was heart-warming to see scenes of farmers feeding those very forces ordered to beat or suppress them.It takes a special kind of people to do that … what indomitable spirit.
So will the Prime Minister convey to the Indian Prime Minister our heart-felt anxieties, our hopes for a speedy resolution to the current deadlock and does he agree that everyone has a fundamental right to engage in peaceful protest?”
